A COMMENT BY TONY PUA ON DAP'S STRATEGIC MOVE TO NOMINATE DYANA SOFYA TO BE THE CANDIDATE FOR TELUK INTAN ...
If DAP doesn't apply new strategies in its electoral battles, where do you think it will be in 10 years' time? It will be static or perhaps slide backwards. The defeat in TI is no indication of the war ahead. Your analysis is spot on! That so many voters stayed away gave the assumption that the poll in TI was inconclusive. There are too many variables that could not be accurately quantified. In my opinion it is better for DAP to lose this poll as it will lead Gerakan to believe falsely that support for them is on the upswing and therefore dull their thinking by confusing them. On the other hand, for the DAP this defeat is good for the soul. It is a wake up call for the party and its allies for it will help them to sharpen their political weapons for the next GE. As for PAS, the non-Muslin electorate gave them the wake up call in 1999 and 2004. They will continue to give them the wake up call until they drop their plan to introduce hudud. Until then BN will continue to rule, something that most people don't want.
