A Canadian MP speaks in Tamil in Parliament

Rathika Sitsabaiesan is a Tamil member of Canadian parliament for the New Democratic Party, representing Scarborough—Rouge River. She is the first person of Tamil-origin in the world to be elected to a federal parliament, outside of Sri Lanka or India, and the first female member of parliament ever elected in her constituent.

Believe it or not, unlike our Parliament which insists that all speeches and debates are to be held in BM, she made hers in Tamil and was roundly applauded by fellow parliamentarians who are mainly whites. Can we hope to see such a thing happening here where a Chinese or an Indian MP is allowed to deliver his speech in Mandarin or Tamil and to be applauded by UMNO parliamentarians? Naaaah!
